I expect this to be my last post on this blog. I cannot work with a blogging host that springs bizarre rules on people that amount to removing entire bodies of work for reasons that don’t amount to anything more than a breach of ettiquette, at worse. For embarrassing people.
Some of the bloggers I admire most are a kind of investigative journalist. They search the public domain for information on suspicious parties and when they find enough to indict them, they publish this information, often about sexual predators, as a public service for the rest of us. WordPress in all its wisdom has decided not just that this is a banmable offense, but that they get to steal all your content too.
WordPress has long been my favorite blogging platform and one I have reccommended many times to people. They have now completely lost credibility with me. If they are willing to hurt their users thusly over something like this, who knows what they will pull next? Decide they get to give you the axe for bad grammer? Why not? It would be no more insane than this is.
I fear women on the Internet especially are doomed by this creeping censorship of any issues that pertain to women’s safety and rights. The only places safe from capricious censorship also are sodden with porn. The Internet is a men’s club, and unless and until women programmers create their own platform and servers and defend us from all this abuse, it always will be.
I hope you find a new place to blog, and will let us know when you do. Thanks for all the inspiration you’ve provided.

I agree. WordPress disappoints. Good luck, Miep and Gallus Mag.

They got some other people too. Who knows how many of us they’ll get before they’re done implementing new policies and misenforcing them?
Tbh, I don’t have a problem with them not wanting people doxxing each other. But they’re never going to go through all the work needed to ascertain that it’s genuinely doxxing, not just surfing and collecting public information on people, like Gallus does. So they pull your blog if it even looks like doxxing whenever some trans lobbyist complains? This is a huge victory for them and they are going to be at this like crazy.

I don’t feel like leaving WordPress over this because that’s what they want, is for us to leave. However in my case it doesn’t matter because I’m no longer writing essays for my blog, only the occasional shout-out to a news item. For me the most important form of protest will be to support Gallus Mag’s next blog. I’m assuming she’ll pack up and go elsewhere.

I don’t care what they want or don’t want. I care about being subjected to bullshit censorship. Same goes for Facebook and Twitter. I’m sick of being anxious all the time about whether they are going to target me. There are other blogging platforms. People recommended some in 4th Wave Now’s post.

I was willing to leave Facebook, but so far hardly anyone has joined MeWe and I was checking it so seldomly I’ve now forgotten my password!

I’m just increasingly sick of all of this. I don’t like being in this state of mind so much. Endless conflict and dishonesty and censorship. I’ve been doing this for ten years and it’s all just gotten so grim.

Feels like Internet in its entirely do this to you.
If it’s not Americanized sites such as Facebook & twitter imposing their policies on their platforms it is the rest of the Internet being surveilled like we are all a bunch of potential terrorists in the eyes of corporations and governments.

Facebook and Twitter are awful too, but I feel more like a customer here because I have actually paid these people for services, but now that they hav gone rogue there will certainly be no more of that.
And mostly they spy on us to try to sell us stuff. That is always the main goal of the corporate state, to destroy, to produce, and to sell.
Lewis Mumford would not have approved.

I left FB fall 2014 over the child porn, porn and prostitution sites. Have not used WordPress or Twitter. I won’t contribute to the coffers of the sexual fetishists, sexual abusers and pedophiles who own social media.
I do read some here and there, but I also think leaving is best becasue all that happens is this back and forth TIs so/Tis not, and I happen to think that’s the plan. Like a toddler who won’t leave mommy alone, they are sent to wear us down, harass and threaten us, frighten us and worry us for our children and jobs. They lose nothing. While they do this, the functionally illiterate unemployable, with what amounts to bonding and circle jerks, their handlers make law.
Do enjoy Posie Parker though. :)

What really gets me is they didn’t warn anybody. They just quietly added this rule and started deleting blogs. No matter what the rule was, that would be an inexcusably unprofessional thing to do. And some of us pay them for things, too.
